ADDI's Editorial Take

What is it and what does it include?

The goal of this study is to explore the generation of a synthetic dataset based on the Critical Path for Alzheimer’s Disease (CPAD) collection of patient data from the control arms of clinical trials for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The data used for this preliminary study was extracted from the Critical Path Institute Online Data Repository (CODR) and the algorithm development was based on a curated dataset consisting of 4726 patients from 16 studies drawn from the CODR database of AD trials. The database also contains, but is not limited to, demographic information, APOE4 genotype, concomitant medications, and cognitive scales (MMSE and ADAS-Cog). Additional datasets can be included in the training set, and new synthetic data generated, as such data are approved for inclusion.

How can I use this dataset to advance my research?

This dataset is ideal if:

  • you’re concerned about data privacy but would like to preserve the statistical fidelity of the original dataset, you can replicate the study’s training set with your own data to mask the original data.
